- 1998 - 2000 - surgeon at the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital.
- From 2000 to 2005, he was a surgeon at the Virtus Institute of Plastic Surgery LLC.
- From 2004 to 2013, he was a full member of the Society of Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Russia (OPREX).
- From 2005 to 2015, he was a leading surgeon at the Virtus Institute of Plastic Surgery LLC.
- From 2006 to 2009 - Assistant Professor of the Department of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Medicine with a cycle of general dentistry at Odesa National Medical University. Lecturer at the thematic advanced training courses for doctors in the cycle: "Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery" at ONMedU.

Scientific activity
His research interests include plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. In particular, plastic surgery of the nose, ears, abdomen, thighs, mammary glands, facial rejuvenation, liposuction, as well as complex deformities after plastic surgery.
Works in the field of surgical treatment of complications of breast correction performed with the help of polyacrylamide gel injections (polyacrylamide mammary syndrome) have been published in the leading scientific journals World Journal of Surgery and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and more than ten years of experience in treating polyacrylamide mammary syndrome is used by specialists around the world.
In 2010, he defended his dissertation on "Surgical treatment of complications of breast correction performed with polyacrylamide gel injections" and received a PhD in surgery.
His work on open rhinoplasty using a muscular aponeurotic (SMAS) flap was presented at the Xth Congress of the European Society for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Vienna and at the XVIIIth ISAPS Congress in Rio de Janeiro, protected by a patent and published as a separate chapter in the monograph "Innovations in plastic and aesthetic surgery".
Research in the field of breast asymmetry correction deserves special attention, as it has shown that the biomechanics of the development of both mammary glands after surgery will be the same if the same amount of breast tissue is left and the same implants are placed. For this purpose, the correction can be carried out by removing the larger part of the breast and placing the same implants. These works were presented at the XXIII ISAPS Congress in Kyoto, at the XXVI ISAPS Congress in Miami, as well as at the IMCAS World Congress 2019, and in 2020 an article on this topic was published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (Scientific Journal).
Gennadiy Patlazhan's innovations in the field of rhinoplasty, including the use of cartilage and SMAS grafts, mammoplasty, and lipofilling are protected by patents. He is a co-author of three monographs and more than 40 articles.
