Axillary hyperhidrosis is a physiological condition characterised by excessive sweating in the armpits. Often, this condition requires correction only when there are social prerequisites for this: fear of showing up in public in the warm season due to visible wet circles on clothes, the appearance of an unpleasant odour, leading to social isolation and self-doubt. In addition, clothes wear out faster due to excessive use of detergents.
Axillary hyperhidrosis is sometimes combined with excessive sweating of the palms and feet. As a rule, this condition does not cause any pathological processes, but in obese people it can lead to a specific complication - erythrasma (infectious lesions of the adjacent and overlying skin).
There are several ways to get rid of this problem: Botox and Dysport injections (but this is a temporary solution to the problem - 2-3 months); endoscopic thoracoscopic sympathectomy - surgical disruption of the innervation of the apocrine glands (this method is effective, but it has a side effect in the form of increased sweating in other parts of the body); and surgical curettage of the axillary areas. This method is the most effective and absolutely safe, with no side effects. The result is extremely long-lasting. In obese people, curettage can be combined with underarm liposuction.
