Liposuction is an aesthetic surgery to surgically change excess fat deposits in a specific area (or several areas), such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. This operation allows you to surgically correct the shape of the figure by eliminating excess in those places where they are locally located.

Liposuction fights the surface layer - it is the layer that accumulates directly under the skin due to improper metabolism.
If you decide to undergo this operation, it is important to know that liposuction is indicated if you have excess fatty tissue that noticeably spoils your figure. The amount of fat is also important: despite the fact that some surgeons safely perform the operation with a fat volume of more than 10 kg, the safest is to remove up to 9 kg of fat. Why: It's much easier to get rid of a small amount of deposits, because in this case, you will avoid excessive stretching of the skin and subsequent skin tightening operations.

Results of the operation

  • If the body contours are far from ideal, liposuction brings brilliant results in terms of body shaping, instantly getting rid of the abdomen, flank "ears" on the sides or a double chin.

Operation.

  • The operation is quite simple. After selecting and marking the areas for liposuction, the plastic surgeon injects a special solution into the tissue through a 5-mm incision in the skin, which liquefies fat cells, making the tissue softer.

  • Excess fatty tissue is removed through a special tube (called a cannula), which is placed in the subcutaneous space under a vacuum created by a special apparatus.

  • In addition to the solution, a drug is injected into the lipoxation zone to prevent swelling after liposuction.

Stages of the operation

  • The postoperative period of any method of liposuction is characterised by soft tissue swelling in the area of surgery, which lasts up to 2-3 weeks.

  • The peculiarities of the postoperative period include wearing medical compression devices to prevent skin deformation for a month.

Popular queries

Does liposuction help with a double chin?

If there is an excess of fatty tissue in the chin area and the skin is still firm, liposuction is very effective. However, if the skin has lost its elasticity and has become lax, then liposuction alone will not be enough. Patients with sagging skin usually need a rhytidectomy in addition to or instead of liposuction. As practice shows, in patients under 40 years of age, liposuction alone is often enough to achieve the desired result. Patients over 40 often need additional surgical procedures, at least in the same circular face and neck plastic surgery.

No! This makes suctioning much more difficult! Please wait to lose weight until after liposuction (losing weight is usually much easier then). In addition, liposuction performed before weight loss usually helps to restore "excess" skin, which reduces the risk of hanging skin folds.

It will take several decades for the same amount of adipose tissue to accumulate at the liposuction site as it was before the operation. But this operation, of course, does not normalise fat metabolism, and if you do not take care of yourself afterwards, fat will be deposited in other parts of the body.
